Welcome to the behind-the-scenes look at Stag Self Storage in Corby Glen! As a new business, we've had quite the adventure setting up our facility and ensuring everything runs smoothly. We wanted to share our story, from moving mountains (literally) to welcoming our first customers. So, grab a cup of tea (or coffee, if you need it like we did), sit back, and enjoy the tale of our first six months in business.
The Great Earth Moving Expedition
When we first decided to open Stag Self Storage, we knew it wouldn't be a walk in the park. But little did we know we'd be moving what felt like half of Corby Glen! Clearing the site was our first Herculean task. We moved hundreds of tons of earth to prepare the land, ensuring a solid foundation for our storage units. Our team became experts in earth moving overnight, fueled by determination and an alarming amount of caffeine.
Hardcore Hard Work
Next up was hardcoring the entire area. Imagine covering every square inch with hardcore to create a durable and stable surface. It was back-breaking work, but we knew it was essential for providing our customers with a top-notch storage facility. Our muscles ached, but our spirits remained high because we were building something truly special.
Fort Knox-Level Security
Security was a top priority from day one. We installed over 300 meters of security fencing, transforming our site into a fortress. We didn't stop there—setting up state-of-the-art cameras was the next step. We wanted our customers to have complete peace of mind, knowing their belongings were safe with us. Testing the camera angles turned into a bit of a comedy show, with us striking various poses to ensure every corner was covered.
Road Plannings and Financial Juggling
Installing road plannings was another crucial step. It wasn't just about looking good; it was about creating smooth, accessible paths for our customers. As we laid down the plannings, we also juggled the financial aspects of the business. Balancing the budget, securing funding, and keeping track of every penny felt like a high-wire act. But we managed it all, with a few late-night sessions and a lot of teamwork.
Admin, Marketing, and Customer Care
Running a storage business isn't just about moving earth and setting up containers. There's a mountain of admin work, from sorting contracts to managing bookings. We dived into marketing, spreading the word about Stag Self Storage to Grantham, Stamford, Bourne, Castle Bytham, Colsterworth, and beyond. Every day was a learning experience, but we were committed to making it work.
Looking after our customers was and continues to be our favorite part. From the first inquiry to helping someone move in, we loved every interaction. Seeing our hard work pay off with happy customers made all the sweat and effort worthwhile.
Growing Pains and Proud Moments
We now have five yard spaces, four of which are occupied by containers. Our 12 brand new 20ft containers are home to the belongings of many satisfied customers. We’ve learned so much in these first six months, and we’re incredibly proud of what we've achieved. Every challenge we faced has made us stronger and more dedicated to providing the best self-storage solution in the area.
The Road Ahead
